CPK National Pizza Month Survey Featured on Pizza Marketplace

California Pizza Kitchen Pizza Month survey shows Americans' deepest pizza passions

California Pizza Kitchen released its second pizza survey a few days before October's National Pizza Month in the U.S. with some fun results about the nation's favorite savory pie. This year's survey, conducted online among 2,027 U.S. adults ages 18 and older, includes the following findings:

  • 21 percent of Americans would choose pizza if they could only eat one food for the rest of their lives.
  • 86 percent would give up something for a year in exchange for free pizza anytime.
  • Top choices to share a slice with include:
  • Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (18 percent)
  • Betty White (15 percent)  
  • Ellen DeGeneres (11 percent)
  • Top sports heroes to share a slice with include:
  • Men — Tom Brady (12 percent)
  • Women — Serena Williams (15 percent).
  • 22 percent of Americans (32 percent of millennials) would not go again with someone who ate pizza with a fork and knife.
  • 36 percent of Americans say pineapple on pizza should be illegal.

In addition to releasing the results of its 2018 Pizza Survey, California Pizza Kitchen kicked off a contest to give away $10,000 "My Life. Powered by Cauliflower" Sweepstakes, named after the chain's cauliflower pizza crust. From Oct. 3-31, customers can enter by telling how they would like their lives to be "Powered by Cauliflower." Ten people will win up to $1,000 each to use toward their goals.

Finally, the chain is introducing a Spicy Chorizo Pizza on its fall menu, beginning Oct. 2. The pie features Mexican chorizo with a housemade guajillo pepper sauce, roasted poblanos, onions and quesadilla cheese, topped with fresh avocado and cilantro, served on hand-tossed dough.

Other menu additions include Pumpkin Cheesecake, Roasted Garlic Chicken with Seasonal Vegetables and Sugar Plum Sangria. The chain is also expanding its permanent menu to include Chorizo and Black Bean Piadina pizza-style sandwiches, Grilled Steak Salad, Lunch Duos with Pasta, Bolognese Spaghetti, Sweet Pea Carbonara, Tomato Basil Spaghetti, Shanghai Power Bowls, Sonoma Grilled Chicken Flatbread and three new cocktails.
